MY MORNING ROUTINE: WHAT I ATE AND WORE TODAY

When you start your day with a calm morning routine, ease will naturally punctuate the rest of your day.

In fact, research shows that an early morning increase in stress can continue all the way into the afternoon.  Best to avoid that, don’t you think?

Here’s a peek into my morning routine.  I hope it will inspire you to start your day off with ease too.

7:00 am | Alarm Goes Off

Every morning at 7:00 am my alarm goes off on my phone. My goal is to get up around this time every morning to have a productive day, but that rarely happens since  I tend to work pretty late on my blog. That being said realistically I usually get up around 8-8:30 and reach for my phone.

8:30 am | Get Out Of Bed and Make Coffee

Every morning starts with a good cup of coffee to wake me up. Lately, I’ve been taking my coffee black (since cream and sugar upsets my stomach throughout the day). As soon as my coffee is brewed I’m ready to gather my laptop and start working!

9:00 am | Work

Every morning my day can start off slightly different (depending on events, deadlines, meetings, etc) but most morning starts off like this. As soon as I consume my first cup of coffee I usually opt for seconds (depending on how much sleep I had the night before), but today is one of those days where I lack sleep. I simply take my coffee upstairs to my room and begin working on my laptop from my bed. I begin checking my emails, Instagram, and Facebook. This usually takes me about and hour and a half before I head to the kitchen and make my breakfast.

 10:30 am | Eat a Healthy Breakfast
I’m usually the type to rush out the door with a cup of coffee and an empty stomach. Being on the go is something I;m fairly familiar with, but this year I wanted to make a change and really adopt that habit of eating a healthy breakfast.  I really want to take that extra time in the morning to fuel my body for the tasks ahead of it. It helps keep my mind on what’s at hand and not my growling stomach. Not only is breakfast good for your physical health, it is also a good time to connect socially. Even five minutes of talking with your roommate or spouse while eating a quick avocado toast can boost your spirits before heading out the door.
Another thing I’ve been doing/loving is drinking my Natural Calm anti-stress drink. I recently discovered this at my local Sprouts and decided to give it a try. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Natural Calm products then I’ve listed the benefits of Natural Calm and how the product works below for you guys to read.

Benefits of Natural Calm

Natural Calm is a drink that promotes healthy magnesium levels and balances calcium intake helping you to feel less stressed and more relaxed. One thing I’ve learned is good health is all about balance! Our bodies were designed to obtain the nutrients we need from the food we eat, including plenty of magnesium. Most of us (an estimated 80 percent) don’t get enough magnesium in our diets, while we often take in an excess of calcium, mainly from dairy products and supplements. Both high-calcium diets and stress-filled lives deplete the magnesium in our bodies even further. That’s where Natural Calm comes in.

How Does it Work?

When we are under stress, our cells—which in their resting state contain magnesium go through a change. Calcium, normally outside the cells, enters the cells to create an action state. Nerve cells become excited and muscle tension. When the stress has passed, magnesium then pushes the calcium back out of the cells and everything relaxes. However, when there’s not enough magnesium, calcium remains in the cells, prolonging stress and creating magnesium-deficiency symptoms. You experience this as feeling stressed. Cellular magnesium deficiency can also express itself as fatigue and low energy; inability to sleep; muscle tension, spasms, and cramps; anxiousness and nervousness; headaches; constipation and abnormal heart rhythms. Natural Calm, sourced from the ocean’s rich mineral content, delivers magnesium in a highly absorbable and quick-acting form. It’s effectiveness—The CALM Experience—has made Natural Calm the leading magnesium supplement in the natural market.

How I Like to Incorporate into my Lifestyle

On the days where I’m feeling stressed with everything going on in my life, I simply enjoy a quiet breakfast alone and swap out my coffee for a cup of Natural Calm. All I do is put 1 scoop of the anti-stress mix into the hot water and squeeze a wedge of lemon for flavor (this is optional).

11:30 am | I quickly got ready and began my day.

I was off to a quick meeting in downtown LA and chose to wear this sleeveless midi gingham dress that I scored at Target from the WhoWhatWear collection. The fabric of this dress was light weight and the breathable material kept me nice and cool in this triple digit weather.
