Happy new year!!!
This is a highly requested post so I decided to share with you all how I dropped all my LBs. I get tons of emails daily and also comment on how I did it so I really wanted to find the time to sit down and hopefully answer all your questions through this post.
I love food and I really love eating, but I’ve never been a big fan of dieting. Living in LA gives me the luxury of eating all different types of food all day long and that really started the slow gain of 30-40lbs through the years.
When I was younger I’d maintained my weight of 135lbs by participating in sports, walking home from school and also working out at my local gym. After my first 2 years in college I was in a relationship and really just let myself go. I ate anything and everything in sight and weighted in at 160lbs. That was the heaviest I have ever been and I’m pretty sure most girls go through this.
My breaking point!
I wasn’t happy at my heaviest but I wasn’t motivated to lose it either until one day I saw pictures that others had tagged me on my facebook wall of an event I attended at school. There it was physical proof of how big I was, I was so embarrassed of how much weight I had gained. I questioned myself over and over on how I let this happen.
Soon after I decided to make a change and really find my confidence that I’ve never had. Almost a year later, in the summer of 2012 I finally reach my goal weight of 115-120lbs. My weight lost didn’t happen overnight in fact it took a really long time but that’s because I wasn’t “dieting” I really took the time to figure out what really worked for me and how convenient it was. I was slowly beginning to change my lifestyle and it has helped me maintain my weight till this day. Here are some before and after pics of myself. What worked for me : My weight lost tips
Eat Breakfast!!!!! and small portions throughout the day
I’m normally always on the go so I tend to skip breakfast and after years of doing this I realized this wasn’t helping me lose weight and only made me eat larger meals throughout the day. I simply just forced myself to eat breakfast even when I wasn’t hungry.
I normally ate:
multi grain bagel with reduced fat cream cheese
protein fruit smoothie
special k cereal with reduced fat milk
fruits + yogurt
Toast + eggs
Lunch & Dinner
I didn’t prep my meals like how others would but I simply just ate better then I normally would. If I’m on the go I will stop by chipotle, flame broiler or subway or starbucks. I would normally try to get it as healthy as possible and I wouldn’t eat it in one sitting I wold normally eat that for lunch and dinner. This was what I ate and it worked for me.
this really helped me eat smaller portions because i snacked throughout the day. you can eat whenever u feel a bit hungry. i would normally snack on:
special k snacks
just to name a few.
No eating after 7-8pm!!!!
I had to train my body to eat earlier and stop eating so late at night. This was the main cause of all my LBs I put on. I simply just made a rule for myself to not eat so late and the cut off time was 7-8pm because I normally sleep around 11-12pm. At first this was really hard for me because I always felt like I was starving but it got easier after a few days and I felt so much better. My stomach got smaller and so did my appetite. I started to notice that the weight just fell off as soon as I made these changes.
No more sugar!!!!
I have to admit I have a pretty bad sweet tooth. I would pick dessert over any type of food. At this point my weight plateaued at 128lbs and I really wanted to be more strict and really lose a few more pounds. I had to cut sugar out of my diet just to drop those stubborn lbs! this was hard but it really helped me get under 125lbs.
No more carbs!!!
ok.. as you all know I am vietnamese so most of my meals and my main diet consumes of rice so this was very hard for me to cut out. I had to cut out carbs because it was my goal to be under 120lbs. At this point I just wanted to be in the best shape of my life! I wanted to look leaner and really feel good about myself. I feel like I’ve gotten this far so why not keep setting goals for myself. Cutting the carbs really helped me reached 116lbs!! As soon as I reached my goal I started to workout again and gain muscle and definition back in my body.
Even though I didn’t workout in order to lose weight but I did walk a lot. I always try to squeeze in that little exercise throughout the day whether its walking to get something or just taking the stairs. This really helped me speed up my metabolism.
Drink lots of WATER!! tea and citrus!!
one of my tricks is to drink lots of iced lemon water, green tea and black tea. this really help me burn fat and really curbed my appetite throughout the day. I also had a glass of fresh squeezed grapefruit juice after my lunch or dinner.
I just wanted to say that this wasn’t easy for me at all. everyday was a struggle but i powered though it and i have never felt better. Just be patient and don’t set a goal to drop 40lbs but be patient with your body. I never ever thought it was possible to be the weight that i am because ive been heavy my entire life but i realized anything is possible! I’m still young so why not look my best!!! good luck guys!!!
